I want to build a PRI to H.323 gateway with 8 E1 PRIs (240 channels). The gateway will decode incoming g.729 voice to the PRI. Can a single computer handle such a load?

I don't have any, I want to know what kind of computer can handle this load. Digium suggests buying a PCI board for this job, but its a bit more expensive than buying the software licenses (about 40% more).
