I recently installed the Lumenvox license server, engine, and asterisk
connector. Everything appears to have installed properly. I've added the
ENV vars to my Asterisk startup script, and Asterisk shows the module
res_speech_lumenvox.so and applications Speech* have been loaded. I've
installed my License.bts file from the Lumenvox web site. The example in
the engine directory compiles and runs correctly.
Connecting to 127.0.0.1

The server is running CentOS 4.4 with Asterisk SVN-branch-1.2-r58832M
(post 1.2.16).
I downloaded and installed the pizza demo, making sure all of it's
sounds/agi/grammars are in the right place and the the dialplan and
lumenvox.conf file is setup correctly. When called, and after the
greeting plays, SpeechActivateGrammar chokes and the call drops. How
does one troubleshoot this issue? There's nothing meaningful in the
Asterisk log, and nothing in the Lumenvox engine log.

Chris,
Double check all the grammars. The dialplan is failing when trying to
activate the "order" grammar, this error tells us that the "order"
grammar has not been loaded.

That's what I thought, but I don't know of any way to check. Is there a
"show grammars" type command, or any other looking glass into what
res_speech_lumenvox.so is doing?

Check the console output when res_speech_lumenvox.so loads, and make
sure you are using the latest build of the connector. It will give you
more information when errors happen.

I don't think a missing grammar is your problem. When I've had unloaded
grammars in the recent past nothing crashed/complained about it - I just didn't
get anything recognized. I think something else might be going on for you.

According to the details posted in this thread, it seems that everything
is correctly installed and loaded, yet the system fails. I'm perfectly
happy to blame myself if I could find a reason ;-) There's got to be
some method of debugging this beyond the sparse output in the asterisk
log. Any other suggestions?

Hi, I recently purchased the Lumenvox single port speech engine for my TrixBox 2.0 system. I am unable to get the pizza demo working. I will admit I am a Asterisk/Lumenvox newb, but I have spent a fair amount of the weekend searching for a solution before I decided to post. Here is where I am at so far, any (and all) suggestions appreciated, thanks! I downloaded the files per the Trixbox instructions (http://www.lumenvox.com/customers/help/trixbox.htm) and everything, including the license process, seemed to install just fine – no errors reported.I used the following bins:LumenvoxSRE-7.1.211-rh-es.tarasterisk-1.2.x-lumenvox-support-b10-engine7.1.tarlicense_server-7.1.211-rh-es.tar I am able to build and run the demo app at optlumenvoxengine_7.1examples and when running I get : [root@asterisk1 examples]# ./example 127.0.0.1Connecting to 127.0.0.1Interpretation 1:8587070707 count=0, decode returns 10Interpretation 1:8587070707 count=1, decode returns 10Interpretation 1:8587070707….. So it seems that the speech engine is up and running ok. I then downloaded the latest Pizza Demo:ast-pizza-demo.zip The FTP site is dating the file at 2/16/2007 I followed the instructions in the included readme, which vary slightly from the directions at http://www.lumenvox.com/customers/help/AsteriskPizzaDemo.htm - though in my debugging, I’ve pretty much tried everything at this point. In one of the docs, it mentions the default extension is 200, I had an existing extension at 200, but deleted it so that is the only conflict I can come up with, and wanted to make sure I shared this in case this could be the problem. I also created an IVR route to the demo and have configured it to run ‘Custom App’ custom-pizza,s,1. When I dial the extension from the IVR, here is what the Asterisk debug shows me (verbosity 9): -- Playing 'custom/EnterExt1' (language 'en') == CDR updated on SIP/edh-XXX -- Executing DBdel("SIP/edh-XXX", "") in new stack -- Executing Set("SIP/edh-XXX", "__NODEST=") in new stack -- Executing Goto("SIP/edh-XXX", "custom-pizza|s|1") in new stack -- Goto (custom-pizza,s,1) I then get a reorder (fast busy) tone, and asterisk hangs up, and the logging stops. Not sure if this helps or not, but here is the output from loading grammar:asterisk1*CLI> reload res_speech_lumenvox.so -- Reloading module 'res_speech_lumenvox.so' (Lumenvox Speech Recognition) == Parsing '/etc/asterisk/lumenvox.conf': Found -- Using server(s): 127.0.0.1 -- Reloaded grammar 'yes_no' -- Reloaded grammar 'pizza' -- Reloaded grammar 'order' -- Reloaded grammar 'crust' -- Reloaded grammar 'size' -- Reloaded grammar 'specialityorcustom' -- Reloaded grammar 'speciality' -- Reloaded grammar 'arso' -- Reloaded tweaking profile default I have also made sure all the Trixbox and pertinent modules have the latest online updates. I hope I included all the right information here. If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know. Thanks for the help! Best,-Ed
I then get a reorder (fast busy) tone, and asterisk hangs up, and the
logging stops.
I had the same problem. Peter Retief, a new member of the mailing list,
wrote me this morning with the fix. There's a typo in the Readme.txt
file that comes with the demo. In extensions_custom.conf, change
"order-pizza" to "pizza". The problem is that SpeechCreate needs to be
called before SpeechActivateGrammar.
I'd also like to mention that I spoke with members of the Lumenvox team
at Von last week, and they arranged for me to speak with Lumenvox
support staff about this. Before I had a chance to do that, Peter sent
me the solution. My point is that beyond being a really cool product,
the people behind the scenes stand behind the product and are very helpful.

Thanks Chris! I followed the readme instructions below, and there is no
mention of order-pizza going into the extensions_custom.conf, only in
the extensions.conf. Should I make the change there instead?
Thanks again!

From ReadMe.txt included in Pizza Sample Zip:
The two conf files in the PizzaConfOnAsterisk directory should be placed
in the /etc/asterisk directory. Modify extensions_custom.conf to add the
line "#include pizza_demo.conf" this will in effect cause this dial plan
to be included and loaded when the extentions are loaded. Now, modify
the extensions.conf default section by adding these lines "include =>
custom-pizza" and "exten => s,1,Goto(custom-pizza,s,1)".

Chris,
I got it figured out thanks to you and Stephen @ Lumenvox! Thank you
both!!
For others bumping into this, here is what I did that is different than
what the Readme.txt has. Not sure if this is 'right' or not, but the
demo works for me all the way through now.
1) Removed items from extenstions.conf: include => custom-pizza
AND exten => s,1,Goto(custom-pizza,s,1)
2) Added: "include => pizza" to extensions_custom (Note: I had to
change it from custom-pizza that is in the docs)
3) Changed my IVR to point to pizza,s,1 (Not custom-pizza). This
could also be done to the main incoming extension as well but I use the
IVR to route things instead of just going straight to the demo.
Now, if they would only deliver that Large Pepperoni I am waiting on....
:-)
