The Asterisk Documentation Project is proud to present, "The History
of the Zapata Telephony Project as it relates to the Asterisk PBX".
Jim Dixon was the founding father of the Zapata telephony project
(http://www.zapatatelephony.org) which started a revolution in
computer telephony.
This is a fantasticly interesting article and should be read by anyone
involved with Asterisk or computer telephony in general. It is
available as a link on the left hand side of the main page.

Enjoy!
Thank you for posting that article! I've always wanted to send Jim a
brief note to thank him for "birthing" the zaptel concept but I didn't
do it because I felt he'd probably already received enough thank you's
from Asterisk fans like me.
Well I'm gonna do it now. Sorry Jim.
And yes, Mark Spencer, you are the Linus Torvalds of telephony! You took
on a difficult project and hung in there with grit and determination. I
am grateful indeed. Thank you!
