Does * support persistent SIP registration? It seems not. Everytime I reboot *, I need to force all SIP phones to re-send registration. Is it possible to add database support for SIP registration? Thanks,
Imaging you have MANY phones on *, you would not want to hand code each SIP's phones default IP address in sip.conf. But if * can save SIP phone's last registed IP in this file, that would be good too.

Sip phone register again with * after
theis timeout (my snom do that every 10 minutes,
my Cisco every hour). So that's not a problem.
If you need to call them *before* they register
again, you can define the default ip into
sip.conf, so when NOT registered , asterisk use
that ip to get to those phones.

I would not recommend doing this approach of modifying the sip.conf,
I personally think it would be much better to store the reg information in the astdb.
That way you can manually flush it if you want, even while * is running.
In addition, the registrations would survive reloads and reboots.
Where DHCP is highly dynamic in a large environment, I could see this as being beneficial.

I agree database would be the best for storing registration. I saw * support MySQL for cdr so maybe it can be used for SIP registration too.

If you want a soft to register sip phones, ser does it really well and it
works with MySQL database and it's under GPL:
