Although QuickNet said they would send me a LineJack long ago, it has
never arrived, so I have not been able to get Asterisk working with the
LineJack.
Hmm, bad. And did you test some other telephone card?

Actually, do you work on Asterisk or not? I can't see any updates younger
than 1 month.

Hey, this is an open source effort. The product is free and there is
currently
one developer. Afaik he was abroad for some time. Expect more updates when
the
userbase gets bigger and more developers report themselves to put in their
time. Maybe this is something you should think about.
As I can see, Mark is still waiting for hardware donations to implement and
test more. Currently Asterisk only matches Marks hardware: the Atlas and
a full duplex soundcard.
A second problem is that the ISDN standard differs between the US and
Europe.
To be more exact, the telco terminates the line in Europe with a NT1, in the
US NT1s are integrated in the perhipials you connect to the line. Someone
correct me if I'm wrong.
Greetings,
Sander Striker
PS. Anyone care to pitch in, hardware or software(development) wise?

Actually, right now, I'm working on LineJack, I found some bugs and I'm
trying to fix them. :-)
I just wanted to know, if he continues.

OK.

It's true.

Thank you Sander for coming to my defense, but the question is certainly
valid. The answer is that yes, Asterisk is still being developed, but I
haven't been putting nearly as much time into it as I had for a few
reasons:
1) I had finals and such for my last quarter
2) There did not seem to be a strong interest in Asterisk on the
list
3) The time I spent I spent on development and not on the web site
4) I've been working on my business (linux-support.net)

That's right. Lars sent me an ISDN card, but it's apparent that it's not
going to work with my American hardware.

That sounds great.

I'll probably reeiterate this in a status update eventually, but for now,
let me describe a few things that I'd like to get some help on:
1) Managing the AsteriskPBX mailing list and web site
2) Building web interfaces (and other interfaces) for managing things like
extensions, listening to voicemail, etc (the voicemail listening thing
is already there but is very primitive.
3) Document Asterisk API, configuration files, etc. I would be happy to
work with someone to give them the information they need to write the
documentation.
4) Send hardware and/or write drivers for additional hardware to make
Asterisk more widely useful.
5) Find (and preferably) fix bugs in Asterisk.
Anyway, I'd love to have some help to make Asterisk become a better
product.
DId you update it on cvs????.... I think it will be better.....

I'd like to discuss this with you more off the list before we apply the
patch. I'd like to understand more about what you're doing and why.

Does anyone have any really strong opinions on how this is too be done? I
develope in PHP and would be willing to take a stab at this unless someone~
thinks it should be in a language more general like perl or C. I've compiled~
Asterisk but not done much with it as the only "telephony" interfaces I have~
are Lucent Winmodems, and they aren't supported yet (I have a OSS Soundcard~
too, so I could use that.)

I'd be willing to send someone a Winmodem, but I assume everyone has a
couple of these lying about, and I don't know how much real interest
their is in supporting these.~

From my position I think Asterisk could be a killer app, especially for a~
small business, my level of interest is quite high but I have a narrow skill~
