Yes, this is the Asterisk business list where people offer $20 for an asterisk application. Don’t think this is the best place to look for asterisk work

FYI this is a business list and a skilled man power is available at a better cost, and this discussion very much stays here definitely, if you aint needing one just keep mum, please refrain from providing such remarks if you do not acclaim the community effort which keep the entire asterisk Eco system alive and kicking.
If you hate such post mebbe you need to set some better mail filters.

"You get what you pay for" You have never heard of this before??
Anyways, especially with the economic times, $20 could be a good some
of money, relatively speaking.
I have been to countries where the average annual income was a mere
$600 U$D. $20 goes a long way in those situations. Heck, a $20 in my
pocket goes a long way sometimes :)
On the other side of that coin, anyone looking for real development
and has a budget probably won't hire the $20 guy. Why? Because we
come full circle, "You get what you pay for".
You are probably unaware of what goes on off-list precipitated by
postings from this list, but believe me, at least $100k deals are done
in my experience. Obviously, these discussions are off-list for a
reason.
Read between the lines my friends, that is where all the interesting
things go on.
Last piece of advice. Anyone looking for work would be a fool to not
pursue any and all avenues that are acceptable, including this list.
Thanks,
Steve Totaro

Not unaware at all. And personally I have made a couple of good deals
that originated on this list. Precisely because of it, I find it essential
that this list maintains a level of professionalism not only from the
sellers, but also from the buyers. I chose Asterisk as a platform because I
expected it to be a technology that will help me make a lot money. Period.
Anyone offering to buy or sell Asterisk services for $20 diminishes the list
and the technology, and lowers my market. Of course, there is always the
chance that I am wrong and that I chose the wrong technology. I would hate
to think so though. I am aware that knowledge of Asterisk in and of itself
is not enough to make anyone rich, but my point is: This list can become the
source of quality business leads that we all want, if we so demand from it.

(if anything with my complaints) a level of professionalism both for buyers

3) Pay attention as you go about your day. Maybe you call to check on
your dry cleaning and find that they have an IVR that is set up all
wrong and driving away customers. Talk to the owner about how you can
help.
4) Consider giving away your services. Volunteer to upgrade the old

you get the gig, you help a worthy cause, make solid contacts and get

I know this sounds like a lot of work, but so is a job. As an

I'll definately hire somebody working hard to find a place where their

Good luck.

I don't know the original person who posted the job request in person, but
what I do know is that the request was sent out with the best intentions in
mind.
I have had more than a few conversations with this person and what I think
we're dealing with here is someone who has the community's best interest at
heart, but because of the country they find themselves in, it makes it hard
to find work using voip I suspect.

I think you are still not aware of economies which provide a lot for
$20 then the one in which you are, so being on this global list if you
can't compete a $20 guy then don't complain, after all a business
owner thinks the best place to source its raw material and sell in
markets which pay him the most dollars for the same ( this is
business, this is how profits are made, to give you business 101)
So if you complain that a $20 guy should not be allowed to compete you
who may be $200 then look whos asking for professionalism.
If you still think you want to be in asterisk business then bloody
well compete!!!
Unless otherwise you make something like, Asterisk yourself an build a

Paul, that was a value-added post, thanks for the valid points and
advice. Before we post, we might consider what value is added by that
post. This is a huge community, yet often individuals think they are
speaking for it. One person's "noise" may be another's future. If
it's noise, to me, I just move on.
The idea of just ignoring a post that does not interest you or one for
which you have no constructive input is well-taken. My belief is that
we should welcome new members of the community wherever they may be
and if English is not their first language, try to make allowances for
that as well.
Finally, building international contacts will become increasingly
important to you in the United States, as your own market goes through
some "changes". It's great to use the Internet for one of its best
features, that of being an international platform for communication
between people of like interests, businesses and needs.

My friend, I am sorry but you are not making any sense. Trying to
understand what you are writing, what you seem to be saying is: "You must

That's ridiculous. You are ignoring like 10 different parameters, but first

want to get out, and I even want to oppose them... and if you don't like my
position, then YOU get out.

I think here the Customer will decide who need to be out.
Thinking as a customer, if $20 guy meets my standards and get the job done, then we all know the answer that who will be out. ;)

Unless otherwise you make something like, Asterisk yourself an build a
community around and blah blah !!
So moral of story compete or stop complaining. Period.

CS,
Look whos taking of professionalism here, you precisely meant that "a
$20 guy should not be allowed to post coz I want to bully around and
want to charge $200 for whatever reasons that I have", now this is the
very reason I and other list members have a problem with.
I didn't raise a point earlier until you pointed a darted arrow to the
other fellow members and tried to pull him down ( you can be living in
a non-democratic centric mindset)
It was you who had the pain point, if u like the solution provided
take it, or just move on, community would be blessed if you are not
around.
Finally as Jai said let the customer decide what he wants to go for,
atleast customer would get a fair idea on this list (thats one of the
most admirable take home eventually) and I had protested your
monopolistic behaviour.
BTW rants > /dev/null

That's ridiculous. You are ignoring like 10 different parameters,

don't
want to get out, and I even want to oppose them... and if you don't

Yes, yes…. If Asterisk is eventually just the wrong technology to make money, and this I am seriously studying, I will not only get out, I will run away never to look back J

I think here the Customer will decide who need to be out.
Thinking as a customer, if $20 guy meets my standards and get the job done, then we all know the answer that who will be out. ;)
